Choosing Gili Trawangan as our destination marked the beginning of an unforgettable adventure. Among the three Gili Islands, Trawangan stood out for its plethora of services and accommodations. This choice proved to be wise, especially thanks to our stay at Martas Hotel, where we spent three delightful days soaking up the island’s charm, sunsets, and exhilarating activities.
Martas Hotel is conveniently located on the sunrise side of the island, just a 10-minute stroll from the ferry terminal. This area is buzzing with life, yet the hotel is nestled a couple of streets inwards, providing a peaceful sanctuary for restful nights. However, be prepared for the gentle calls of the local mosque, which can be heard from anywhere on the island—including your room. For us, these sounds added to the island's character, enhancing our experience!
Accommodation Options: Family Bungalows and More
We opted for the family bungalow, perfect for our group of four. Martas Hotel offers a variety of accommodations, including smaller bungalows and double rooms, all beautifully designed. Constructed with intricately carved wood and natural stone, these bungalows evoke the charm of a cozy countryside retreat.
Each bungalow is equipped with essential amenities: a private bathroom, air conditioning, a refrigerator, an electric kettle with coffee supplies, satellite TV, and fast WiFi. But what truly won us over was the spacious porch area. The entry terrace features an enormous sofa, ideal for relaxing, reading, or enjoying breakfast under the gentle morning sun.
Included Breakfast: A Delightful Start to the Day
Breakfast at Martas Hotel quickly became our favorite part of the day. Initially, we didn’t think much about breakfast inclusions while booking accommodations, but this experience changed our perspective. The hotel offers a delightful breakfast selection, from tasty omelets (the cheese one is a must-try) to fluffy pancakes, all accompanied by fresh fruits, juice, and coffee or tea. It’s a feast to kickstart your day!
Enjoying the Pool and Other Amenities
And we can't forget the beautiful swimming pool! We indulged in refreshing dips both in the pool and the surrounding sea. With such a picturesque setting, it felt like a slice of paradise to relax between swims.
A Memorable Experience: Staff and Services
The staff at Martas Hotel were incredibly attentive, ensuring our stay was as comfortable as possible. Our rooms were cleaned daily, and they were always ready to assist us with any inquiries or requests. Additionally, they offer a convenient bicycle rental service for just 50,000 IDR per day, making it easy to explore the island at your own pace.
While Martas Hotel may not be the cheapest option on the island, the quality of service, amenities, and overall experience provides excellent value for money. We wholeheartedly recommend it!
