Our adventure in Ohrid culminated in a bus ride (which turned into an unexpected taxi experience) to Bitola, followed by a scenic train journey to Skopje, where we continued our exploration of Macedonia.
Essential Information for Travelers
Here are some useful tips to help you navigate your visit to Ohrid:
- How to get to Ohrid from Berat by bus via Elbasan: We took a bus from the Berat station at around 8:30-9 am heading towards Elbasan for 350 LEK per person, which took about three hours. From there, we caught a shared van to the Macedonia border for 450 LEK, although we were charged 600 LEK. After crossing the border on foot, taxis were available to take us to Struga for €5 and to Ohrid for €8, with some negotiation.
- Where to stay in Ohrid: We found a delightful place at the Luccia Apartments, which offered a comfortable and convenient base for our explorations.
