Sleeping in Auckland: A Guide to Restful Stays

When you arrive in a new country, one of the first tasks is finding the perfect place to stay. For us, that meant balancing budget, comfort, and proximity to our English school in New Zealand. Our search for accommodation in Auckland led us to a swift decision: Jucy Hotel.

Our experience at Jucy has been nothing short of delightful. Initially, we checked into one of their hotel rooms, enjoying a double room with a private bathroom. It felt like a slice of luxury! The expansive windows let in plenty of natural light, and we cherished the comfortable bed—a stark contrast to what we would later experience in a camper van. The room was equipped with a complete bathroom, a flat-screen TV, and a tea and coffee station, which provided a cozy environment to adjust to the Kiwi accent through local shows and movies.

After a few days, we moved to the hostel section, opting for a double room with a shared bathroom. Surprisingly, we didn't find it inconvenient at all. The bathrooms are conveniently located on each floor, so sharing with just a few other guests minimized any wait times, making our mornings stress-free.

This particular room featured a bunk bed with a double on the bottom and a single on top. The mattresses were just as comfortable as those in the hotel room, and the bright and inviting ambiance made it feel like home. Each room comes with extra bedding, ensuring warmth and comfort during chilly nights.

On the main floor, we took full advantage of the communal areas. The kitchen is fully equipped, eliminating the need for purchasing salt, oil, or other essentials for meal prep. There’s also complimentary tea and coffee available, complete with sugar and milk—everything you need for a cozy cup!

Adjacent to the kitchen is the lounge and dining area, perfect for unwinding after a long day. Whether you're watching a movie, making new friends, or savoring your latest culinary creation, this space is inviting. The hotel offers DVDs at reception and has a good selection of books for some leisurely reading.

Apart from the cozy common areas, the hotel provides access to computers, an extensive collection of free brochures and maps for exploring New Zealand, laundry services, and wifi (for a fee). If you’re feeling a bit lazy about cooking, the on-site café serves delicious coffee made by friendly staff who are always willing to assist with any needs or questions you may have.

For those newly arrived in New Zealand, this place is a fantastic option, providing comfort and convenience at an accessible price.
