1. De Tal Palo
De Tal Palo offers a fantastic place to enjoy tapas in Almería. They have special tapas (with an extra cost of 3-4€), but the complimentary ones are quite satisfying. Highly recommended dishes include the toast with mango compote and goat cheese, grilled tuna, and the poor man's potatoes with egg. The local beer Turia pairs perfectly with these dishes. The ambiance is cozy, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Price for beer with tapas: 2.60€.
2. Taberna Nuestra Tierra
This was one of our discoveries on our latest trip to Almería. The tapas are delicious and creative, especially the ventresca tuna with ajoblanco and peppers, the hamburger with truffle mayonnaise and caramelized onion, and the crispy cheese with honey and orange reduction. Price for beer with tapas: 2.60€. Gourmet tapas available for an extra cost (3-5€).

3. Casa Puga
As one of the historic establishments in the city, Casa Puga is a traditional tavern and a must-visit for anyone interested in tapas in Almería. The extensive tapas menu offers a variety from cheeses to smoked meats and seafood. Price for beer with tapas: 2.20€.
4. Bonillo
At first glance, this small and simple bar may not catch your eye, but it’s always bustling with customers for a reason. Their specialty is the patatas bravas, which are perfectly spicy (you can choose the level of heat). Even if you have to stand at the bar to eat, you'll know from the first bite that it’s worth it. While there are other tapas on the menu, don’t hesitate to order the bravas. Price for beer with tapas: 2€.
5. Bella Ciao
Located centrally and buzzing with energy, Bella Ciao offers many options for vegans and generous portions at reasonable prices. We particularly enjoyed its various ethnic dishes such as falafel, hummus, quesadillas, and Greek salad. For tapas, the potato omelet mousse is a must-try (0.50€ extra), along with the complimentary grilled tuna with blueberry jam or the mini veggie burger with Jack Daniels sauce. Price for beer with tapas: 2€.
6. La Consentida
We celebrated Rober's birthday here and savored some of the best tapas we’ve ever tried. The terrace is lovely, and the staff is friendly and professional. For just 3€, you can enjoy a large beer and a tapa of your choice from several options. They specialize in grilled meat 😉
Interestingly, each dish is named after a female artist. We opted for Sara Montiel (grilled chorizo), Sharon Stone (skewers, a bit salty for our liking), Lady Gaga (patatas bravas), Frida Kahlo (Mexican-style grilled chicken), and Marisol (ajo blanco with grilled pork). For dessert, we couldn’t resist the brownie tapa (1€ extra) that was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!
Note: The kitchen opens at 20:00. If you arrive earlier, only cheese and cold cuts are available. Price for beer with tapas: 3€.
7. Jovellanos 16
Here, the tapas go beyond the usual offerings, with several very original options worth trying. Recommended dishes include fried cheese with caramelized apple, smoked meat pepito, and pringá kebab. Plus, the venue is quite beautiful, and the staff is pleasant. Price for beer with tapas: 2.50€.
8. La Mala - Croquetería
If you are a croquette aficionado, you must visit La Mala to try what are arguably the best croquettes in Almería (there are about ten different types, each priced at 1.50€). For those who enjoy a more alternative style, there's another venue called La Mala that specializes in various types of tortillas. Price for croquettes: 1.50€.
9. Restaurante Aljaima
We conclude our list with one of our favorite spots, which we visit every time we're in town. This Moroccan restaurant features beautiful decor that transports you to a nearby yet exotic land. You can dine from the menu or enjoy some Arab tapas. We recommend trying the cheese roll with honey (addictive), the falafel, and the kofta, which are spiced meatballs that are truly delicious. Both are included as complimentary tapas. For a more substantial meal, try the tagines (12-16€). Price for beer with tapas: 2.50€.
