While it is possible to find seats on the same day, it’s advisable to purchase your ticket at least a day in advance to secure your spot. Many travelers find it convenient to ask their accommodation for assistance in booking tickets, often for a small fee.

The journey to Mersing takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes, and you will arrive directly at the Mersing Jetty—the point where ferries to Tioman depart.
Be prepared for a quick border crossing, as the processing time for the Malaysian visa is generally efficient. During the trip, the bus stops for breakfast; be sure to try the local delicacy, roti with teh tarik!

The ferry schedule does vary due to tidal changes, but you can often choose between departures around 09:30 AM and 11:30 AM. On our visit, we found ourselves boarding the 09:30 ferry at 10 AM, just in time!
