During our own journey, we spent a delightful five nights (three in Salento and two in Santa Rosa), which we found to be just the right amount of time to soak in the beauty of this captivating part of Colombia. Distances are manageable, and having a car (the best option) allows you to explore various towns and attractions each day.

Salento: The Heart of Coffee Culture

The vibrant village of Salento is a colorful hub and a perfect base for exploring the Cocora Valley, one of the region's main attractions. Nestled in the heart of Quindío, it offers a tranquil atmosphere compared to the bustling cities of Pereira and Armenia.

Thanks to its picturesque vibe and numerous hostels, hotels, and restaurants, Salento is undoubtedly the best base for visiting nearby towns such as Circasia, Buenavista, Pijao, and Filandia.

Here are some recommended accommodations in Salento:

• Finca Hotel Mundo Nuevo – Our stay here was memorable, thanks to the delicious breakfasts and stunning views!
• Hostal Tralala Salento – A great choice for backpackers located in the town center.

Filandia: A Quaint Alternative

Filandia offers a charming alternative for accommodation in the Coffee Triangle, being just 15 km from Salento. In our opinion, these two towns are the most beautiful in the region.

Its central plaza is the heart of this peaceful village, lined with delightful cafés and restaurants where you can savor local specialties. Given its tourist-friendly atmosphere, Filandia also has agencies to help you organize tours if needed.

Here are some recommended places to stay in Filandia:

Santa Rosa de Cabal: Hot Springs and Gastronomy

Located in the department of Risaralda, Santa Rosa de Cabal is known for its hot springs and delicious local dish, chorizo. While it’s a fantastic place to experience these attractions, we wouldn't recommend it as your main base due to its distance from other key sights.

However, consider spending a night or two here at the beginning or end of your Coffee Triangle adventure. It's also conveniently close to Pereira, making it perfect for onward travel to Bogotá or Medellín.

Here are some appealing hotels in Santa Rosa de Cabal:

• Hotel Vísperas – Beautiful hotel with standard rooms and cabins in nature.

Immerse Yourself in Coffee Culture: Staying at a Coffee Farm

One of the most unforgettable experiences you can have is staying at a coffee farm. While we didn't sleep in one, we did visit Finca El Ocaso and it was one of the highlights of our trip.

If you're eager to immerse yourself in the coffee culture, consider spending a night or more in an authentic coffee farm or an old hacienda. Here are a few rural hotels to check out:
