What to Expect at the Termales de Santa Rosa de Cabal

Upon arrival, visitors will find a secure parking area that is free, although tipping is appreciated. The entrance ticket counter is conveniently located across the road, where you'll pay for the access package that suits your needs. The atmosphere is welcoming, setting the tone for a relaxing day.

As you embark on a scenic trail that runs alongside the thermal spring, you'll witness the beauty of nature unfold. The path, about 300 meters long, leads you to the main thermal complex, which consists of several buildings surrounding five thermal pools. These facilities come equipped with essential amenities such as changing rooms, restrooms, and dining options, including bars and restaurants.

While the thermal pools are not natural, they have been thoughtfully constructed using the naturally occurring thermal waters, maintaining a balance with the surrounding environment. The experience is complemented by a magnificent waterfall nearby, accessible via short trails, where you can enjoy the refreshing cold water after soaking in the warm pools. Don’t miss the chance to snap a photo under the cascade for a memorable moment!

The thermal experience isn’t just about lounging in the water. There are organized guided excursions into the jungle, where you can visit the spring's source and discover more waterfalls and natural pools, so be sure to bring comfortable shoes for walking!

Getting to the Termales de Santa Rosa de Cabal

The best way to enjoy the thermal experience is to spend a night or two in the town of Santa Rosa de Cabal. While the town itself might not be a major tourist attraction, it offers ample accommodations, dining options, and all necessary services for travelers. The termales are located just 10 km away, a quick 25-minute drive.

The journey is mostly on paved roads, but expect about 2 km of gravel and dirt road close to your destination. Even after rain, the road conditions are generally manageable, so don’t worry too much if you are driving your own vehicle.

If you don’t have a car, public transportation is a viable option. Local buses and jeeps leave regularly from the town square, costing around 3,000 pesos. Just be sure to check the return schedules to avoid being stranded!

For travelers staying in nearby cities like Armenia or Pereira, consider joining a tour that includes a visit to the thermal springs:

There are several access plans to suit different preferences. You can choose a basic entrance ticket that grants access to the pools and facilities, or opt for more comprehensive packages that include thermal treatments and meals:

Operating Hours of the Termales de Santa Rosa de Cabal

The thermal complex boasts extensive operating hours, welcoming guests from 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM. It's recommended to stay until after sunset for a truly magical experience. We arrived around noon, and while it wasn't crowded initially, the pools gradually filled up as the day went on. We left around 4 PM and that was when we noticed the peak crowd.

Even if you decide to stay later, the atmosphere transforms significantly at night, creating a unique ambiance that enhances the entire experience.

What to Do If It Rains

Don’t let a little rain deter your plans! As long as it’s not pouring heavily, you can enjoy the thermal pools without any issues. We visited on a drizzly day, and the light rain only added to the charm of the experience. A little bit of moisture won’t ruin your fun!

Exploring Nearby Thermal Springs: Termales de San Vicente

Another thermal area worth mentioning is the Termales de San Vicente, located further north. However, it’s advised not to drive there yourself due to poor road conditions. It's better to travel in a 4x4 or a local jeep. From what we’ve seen, San Vicente seems to cater to a more exclusive clientele, making it ideal for special occasions, while Santa Rosa is perfect for a more casual visit.
