Where to buy tickets for Disneyland Hong Kong

Purchasing tickets is the first step in your Disneyland adventure. If you opt to buy them at the park entrance or through the official website, expect to pay around 639 HKD (approximately €75). However, savvy travelers often find better deals elsewhere.

For instance, we discovered tickets for as low as 580 HKD (around €67) on Klook. Additionally, visiting the China Travel Service (CTS) can yield competitive prices, though we found Klook to be slightly more affordable. There are several CTS offices scattered across Hong Kong for your convenience.

It's also wise to check Civitatis as they occasionally offer interesting discounts or packages that include meals and other services.

What you need to know about Disneyland Hong Kong

While Disneyland Hong Kong may not be the largest of the Disney parks, it offers a unique charm that should not be overlooked. Many visitors have noted that it lacks some of the grandeur found in other Disney locations. On our visit, a few attractions were temporarily closed, and the iconic castle was undergoing renovations.

Nevertheless, this park boasts a significant advantage: the crowds are much smaller compared to other Disney parks worldwide. We visited in mid-January (be cautious of traveling during the Chinese New Year!) and were able to enjoy nearly every ride with minimal wait times. In fact, we encountered a maximum of just ten minutes in line for one attraction, and at times, we didn’t have to wait more than two minutes!

Spending a full day in the park, from 10 AM to 6 PM, allowed us to explore at a leisurely pace without feeling rushed. While it was a low-traffic season, we believe that even during busier times, the experience would still remain enjoyable.

Activities to enjoy at Disneyland Hong Kong

The park is divided into six themed areas: Adventureland, Mystic Point, Toy Story Land, Grizzly Gulch, Tomorrowland, and Fantasyland. In 2021, a new area based on the popular "Frozen" franchise was set to open, promising even more excitement for fans.

Aside from the rides, which you can explore here, don’t miss the spectacular shows that the park offers. We highly recommend the following three experiences as must-sees:

  • Festival of the Lion King: A captivating 30-minute performance that summarizes the beloved story of The Lion King. The colors, costumes, and talent of the performers are truly remarkable!
  • Mickey and the Wondrous Book: Another 30-minute show that showcases various Disney tales with humorous and surprising twists, making it a delightful experience for all ages.
  • Flights of Fantasy Parade: Enjoy a vibrant 20-minute parade featuring floats with your favorite characters, providing an enchanting atmosphere that captures the essence of Disney magic.

During our visit, there was no nighttime parade or fireworks, which we heard could be quite impressive. If you’re lucky enough to see them, it’s a highlight not to be missed.

Throughout the park, you’ll find opportunities to meet and take photos with your favorite characters, bringing joy to fans, especially children. For specific meeting times and locations, check here.

Also, take a stroll down Main Street, where you can find a plethora of shops selling Disney merchandise, including those iconic Mickey and Minnie ears for around €10.

Top attractions at Disneyland Hong Kong

Here are some of our favorite attractions at Disneyland Hong Kong (not in any particular order):

  • Hyperspace Mountain: A thrilling roller coaster set in outer space, complete with Star Wars music to heighten the adrenaline!
  • Mystic Manor: A delightful journey through a haunted house filled with surprises and magical moments.
  • Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars: Another thrilling coaster that takes you through a mine, encountering bears along the way.
  • Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle: Engage in an interactive battle using laser guns, a fun experience that kept us coming back for more!
  • RC Racers: A short but exhilarating ride featuring the toy car from Toy Story, racing up and down at thrilling speeds.
  • Toy Soldier Parachute Drop: Experience the thrill of free-falling like the Toy Soldiers from Toy Story in a fun parachute ride.
  • Jungle River Cruise: Board a boat and navigate through a jungle filled with surprises, including playful elephants and hippos!

While we enjoyed these rides, we did wish for a few more intense attractions, like a looping coaster or a taller drop ride. Regardless, we had a blast, which is what matters most!

To enhance your experience, consider these tips:

  1. Download the “Hong Kong Disneyland” app to check real-time wait times for rides and access an interactive map, making your visit smoother.
  2. You can bring your own food into the park, which is a great way to save money. However, note that while bottled drinks are prohibited, cans are allowed. A refillable water bottle is a good idea!
  3. Selfie sticks and tripods are reportedly not allowed, although we saw many visitors using them. Proceed with caution!
  4. If you choose to dine in the park, there are plenty of options available. We enjoyed burgers and fries for around €10 per person (including drinks). Snacks start at approximately €3, while more substantial meals can reach around €20.
  5. Find water fountains near restrooms to refill your water bottles, as beverages can be pricey—around €3 for a bottle of water.
  6. The park's smaller size caters primarily to families with children, so while there are some thrilling rides, those seeking extreme thrills may be disappointed. However, if you appreciate the Disney experience, you’ll have a fantastic time!

Getting to Disneyland Hong Kong from the city center

If you're staying in Kowloon, the most efficient way to reach Disneyland is by using the metro. Start by taking the Tsuen Wan Line (red line) to Lai King Station. Here, transfer to the Tung Chung Line (orange line) to Sunny Bay. From there, you can board a direct train to Disneyland, which features adorable Mickey Mouse-shaped windows! The journey takes about an hour and costs approximately 22 HKD with an Oyster card.

This overview of our experience at Disneyland Hong Kong highlights the joy and wonder this park offers. If you’re a Disney fan and have the time to spare, it’s undoubtedly a worthwhile visit! For any further questions or additional tips, feel free to reach out.
