Now, let's dive into the best dining spots in O Grove and its vicinity:

1. Taberna Restaurante Lavandeiro

This restaurant has become our go-to spot whenever we visit O Grove, particularly for its extraordinary seafood platter (it’s simply heavenly!). Their platters serve two and offer two options: lobster (85€) or crab (65€). You'll be asked if you prefer zamburiñas or oysters; we always go for the zamburiñas!

Located in the heart of O Grove, it features a lovely shaded terrace and incredibly friendly staff. It's highly recommended, but if you're planning to visit in summer, booking a table in advance is essential.

2. Asador O Chiringuito

If you're in the mood for a casual dining experience, this asador is an excellent choice. Whether you're craving seafood platters or grilled meats, you can enjoy a variety of dishes without breaking the bank. While the portions aren’t huge, you can order multiple dishes to sample different flavors.

Don’t miss the homemade bonito pie (4€), which pairs perfectly with a cold 1906 beer. Other recommended dishes include steamed mussels (4€), seafood croquettes (8€), and the delicious grills (35€ for meat and 50€ for fish, serving two).

Pro tip: One of the best experiences in O Grove, beyond the food, is to take a cruise on the estuary, which includes a mussel tasting!

3. O Colmado

We stumbled upon this gem in the Lanzada area during our summer 2023 trip. The lucky coincidence of being close to our hotel led us to discover their octopus and Arzúa cheese pizza (16€), which serves two and is a must-try. The menu offers a variety of options, including fish, meat, and starters. We also enjoyed the hake, beef croquettes, and burgers—all were delicious.

At lunchtime, they offer a fantastic menu for just 12.5€, which includes a starter, a main dish, dessert, and a drink.

4. O Quinteiro de Temperán

More than just a restaurant, this place offers an authentic gastronomic experience within a cozy ethnographic museum that celebrates Galician culture. Located in an old Galician manor house, they serve tasting menus featuring the finest local products. When making a reservation, you’ll need to specify whether you want fish or meat. The rest is a delightful surprise!

Alongside the culinary journey, you’ll also take a step back in time, discovering pieces of Galicia’s rich history that are hard to find today.

5. Kiosko Alegre

Located near Playa de la Lanzada, this is one of our favorite spots in Galicia, offering an unforgettable sunset view. It’s a simple chiringuito with a relaxed atmosphere and breathtaking scenery.

While the portions are small, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. Our go-to orders include grilled sardines (1.5€ each), steamed mussels, and chorizo with potatoes. Whenever we visit this beloved peninsula, we often end our days here!

6. Pé Na Praia

Close to Kiosko Alegre, this chiringuito is one of the most popular spots in La Lanzada. The perfect plan is to arrive just before sunset and enjoy cocktails while taking in the stunning views. They offer a wide menu with tasty snacks and burgers!

7. Taberna A Mariña

This charming tavern was one of the highlights of our recent visit, and it will surely become a regular stop for us. It’s a simple yet cozy spot where every dish we tried was incredibly tasty, especially the baby squid, mussels, and zamburiñas. Plus, it’s budget-friendly!

8. Bico de Xeado

With several locations across Galicia, there’s no excuse not to indulge in their artisanal ice cream to top off your meal. As an Italian with high standards for gelato, I can assure you it’s exceptional.

During our visit to a temporary stall across from Hotel La Lanzada, we sampled flavors like cheesecake, rice pudding, hazelnut, and mint. All were incredible, but I still dream about that mint cone weeks later!

9. Restaurante O Cruceiro

This cozy little restaurant served us an impressive seafood platter during a family meal with Rober’s family. With good prices, generous portions (including shrimp, crayfish, mussels, clams, cockles, zamburiñas, scallops, and crab), and excellent quality, it’s an experience you shouldn’t miss. Pair your meal with a glass of Ribeiro wine and a dessert for a perfect ending!

10. Merendero La Cueva

Located near the Ermita de la Lanzada, this merendero is a must-visit spot where we often stop to enjoy the sunset while grabbing a drink and a few snacks. Options like chorizo, Padron peppers, tortilla, or baby squid are all great choices. During summer nights, live music often adds to the vibrant atmosphere.
