Top dining spots in San Cristóbal: A culinary adventure
Get ready to tantalize your taste buds as we explore some of the best dining options San Cristóbal has to offer. From local delicacies to international fare, here are our top picks:
1. Restaurante Lucky
This hidden gem in Puerto Baquerizo is a favorite for many visitors. With a daily menu priced at just $5, you can enjoy a hearty meal that includes a soup, a main dish (either meat or fish), and a refreshing natural juice. We sampled their cheese soup and fried chicken, both of which were delicious!
2. El Cangrejo Loco
If you're craving fresh seafood, look no further than El Cangrejo Loco. Located right on the Malecón, this restaurant offers a wide range of dishes, with main courses generally priced between $12 and $18. We celebrated a birthday here with their signature shrimp encocado at $16 and fried bruja fish for $15, which quickly became a new favorite!
3. Sea Garden Cafe
While we only enjoyed a beer here, we highly recommend Sea Garden Cafe for its stunning sunset views. This picturesque spot features a second-floor terrace where you can relax with a drink. The menu may not be extensive, but it's a perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring.
4. Playa Mann Food Stalls
Located on the popular Playa Mann, these food stalls offer a budget-friendly option with menus priced around $5 (soup, main dish, and juice). Unfortunately, we missed dinner service after catching the sunset, but we heard they operate until the evening.
5. Rancho Manabita
This cozy restaurant serves a dinner menu for $6, including drinks and a barbecue selection of meats and fish, accompanied by beans and rice. Both the sausage and fish dishes we tried were delightful and packed with flavor.
6. Olimpo
Similar to Rancho Manabita, Olimpo offers a night menu for $6. We enjoyed their barbecue chicken and fish, served with rice, fried plantains, and potatoes. It's another great option if you're looking for hearty local fare.
7. El Rincón de Sebas
We were told that El Rincón de Sebas serves some of the best empanadas in the Galápagos. Although we didn't have time to try them ourselves, it's worth noting that their seafood empanadas, priced at $2.50, come highly recommended!
8. Panadería Sabor Cuencano
For a sweet treat or a light breakfast, swing by Panadería Sabor Cuencano. Rober still dreams of their delicious blackberry bread, while I am a fan of their cheese empanadas. With prices ranging from $0.30 to $1, it's an ideal stop for a quick snack or something to take on your excursions. While their coffee is a bit pricey, there's a shop across the street selling filtered coffee for just €1.
