4 nudos (San José)

4 Nudos is one of the most renowned restaurants, not just in San José but throughout the area. Located near the marina, its star dish is likely their creamy rice with octopus and clams. However, every paella and rice dish looks absolutely mouthwatering. The average price per person, including drinks, is around €20.

Casa Diego (Las Negras)

This modest and unpretentious local eatery provides exactly what hungry travelers seek: delicious, homemade, and affordable food! They offer an enticing daily menu featuring fresh fish and traditional Almerian dishes for just €12, which includes a starter, main course, drink, and dessert or coffee.

La ola (Isleta del Moro)

Another excellent choice for a satisfying meal in Cabo de Gata is La Ola, situated in the quaint village of Isleta del Moro. Here, we recommend the grilled fish and seafood platter of the day (€15) or the fried fish (€14). If you prefer rice dishes, they offer various paellas starting from €14. They also serve sandwiches and sharing platters.

Restaurante Lebeche (Rodalquilar)

Nestled in the former mining village of Rodalquilar, this cozy and tranquil restaurant boasts a bohemian touch that makes it one of our favorite dining spots in Cabo de Gata. Main courses range from €12 to €16, while sharing platters start at €6. Don’t miss out on the carrot cake for dessert (€6).

Goleta (Cabo de Gata)

Located at the entrance of Cabo de Gata, Goleta is slightly pricier than some other local eateries, but the quality of the food definitely justifies it. Their signature dish is the octopus, which is prepared using three different cooking methods and served with aioli and parsley (€22.50). For those who don't fancy octopus, the fried fish and seafood platter (€16) is a fantastic alternative. If you're looking for something more budget-friendly, consider sharing a couple of platters or opting for a shared fried dish along with salmorejo or ajoblanco (€8).

La frontera (Carboneras)

At the other end of Cabo de Gata lies Carboneras, the largest town in the region, just a short distance from Playa de los Muertos. One of our favorite activities is to go tapeo at La Frontera. They also offer main dishes and sharing platters, but ordering 3-4 tapas will leave you well-fed. Be sure to try the fried dogfish, octopus legs, skewered meat, the paella if you go during lunch, and the baked potato with aioli if you visit in the evening. The price for a drink and a tapa is around €2.50, with an extra tapa costing €1.50.
