1. III Draakon: A Medieval Experience

The III Draakon is not just a restaurant; it’s a legendary experience. As you step through its doors, you feel as if you’ve traveled back in time to the Middle Ages. Surrounded by wooden tables, candlelight, and waitresses dressed in medieval garb, dining here is a feast for the senses.

While the customer service might not be its strong suit (with a recommended tip of €1), the overall ambiance is worth it. The menu features local delicacies like venison pasties and a unique moose soup. Beware of the ribs, which have received mixed reviews for their price and taste. If your budget allows, consider visiting Olde Hansa, another medieval-themed restaurant known for its ambiance, albeit at a higher cost.

2. Beer House: Local Brews and Traditional Dishes

Beer House offers a warm and rustic atmosphere, making it a fantastic spot to enjoy a locally brewed beer and savor traditional Estonian dishes. Although it might be the priciest on our list (with half-liter beers priced around €6 and main dishes ranging from €10 to €18), the quality and experience make it worthwhile.

3. Hell Hunt: Affordable and Casual Dining

Similar in style to Beer House but with better prices, Hell Hunt is a hidden gem. We stumbled upon it while looking for a refreshing beer and were pleasantly surprised by its great food offerings. The extensive menu is complemented by a daily menu available on their website, making it an attractive option for both drinks and meals.

The rustic setting includes a lovely outdoor terrace, perfect for enjoying a meal when the weather is nice.

Update: Although the daily menu remains at a reasonable price of €7-8, the regular menu has seen price increases. It might be wise to check their current offerings before visiting, or simply drop in for a drink.

4. F-Hoone: Healthy and Delicious Options

When traveling, it’s easy to fall into the trap of quick, unhealthy meals. However, F-Hoone proves that eating well is not only possible, but also affordable. This restaurant provides a range of healthy, high-quality dishes at reasonable prices.

  • Meat options like lamb dumplings in creamy mushroom sauce.
  • Vegetarian selections including pumpkin falafel and vegan burgers.
  • Delicious soups such as Thai coconut soup with mushrooms.

The ambiance is equally appealing, making it a lovely place to dine.

5. Jahu Tanavagurmee: Comfort Food with a Twist

Sometimes, a hearty burger or pizza is just what you need during your travels. Jahu Tanavagurmee offers both at competitive prices for Tallinn. Their margherita pizza costs around €6.50, while burgers typically range from €7 to €10.

Don’t forget to bring your Revolut card (with a €10 promo), ideal for avoiding foreign transaction fees.

6. Kompressor: The Pancake Paradise

For pancake lovers, Kompressor is a must-visit. This eatery specializes in both sweet and savory pancakes, ensuring a delicious meal at a budget-friendly price. One of the highlights is their pancake with smoked salmon and cream cheese, costing around €6.

They also offer delightful potato balls with garlic sauce for only €3. In addition to pancakes, you can choose from salads and soups to round out your meal.

7. Lendav Taldrik: Indian Cuisine at Affordable Prices

If you’re craving Indian food, Lendav Taldrik is the place to go. Located away from the bustling tourist areas, this restaurant serves delicious and budget-friendly dishes, with lunch specials offering plates for just €5. It’s an excellent choice for those looking to enjoy flavorful Indian cuisine without overspending.
